Our Sportsground & Turf Maintenance team plays a critical role in maintaining safe, functional and well‑presented sports fields and reserves across the city. We’re looking for someone who brings strong turf knowledge, a proactive mindset, and a positive contribution to team culture.

About the role

As a Team Member – Sportsground & Turf Maintenance, you’ll deliver proactive and reactive turf and grounds maintenance across sportsgrounds, ovals and reserves.

Your work will include coordinating and delivering mowing, turf care and seasonal changeovers, inspecting playing surfaces for safety and condition, monitoring turf health, and supporting irrigation maintenance. You’ll operate tractors and relevant attachments, assist with line marking and sports setup, and help maintain public spaces to a high standard of presentation.

This role also provides opportunities to scope and plan turf activities, support internal stakeholders with technical advice, and mentor other team members in best practice turf maintenance and changeover procedures. You may rotate across City Operations teams during peak periods, making collaboration and flexibility important.

About you

You’re passionate about turf quality and understand the importance of safe, reliable playing surfaces for community sport.

You’ll ideally have a background in sports turf management or a similar environment, along with the relevant qualifications or experience. Just as importantly, you’re someone who takes ownership of your work, supports others, and contributes positively to team culture.

You’re someone who:

• Takes pride in delivering high‑quality turf and playing surfaces
• Understands seasonal turf requirements and safety expectations
• Works safely, methodically and with attention to detail
• Enjoys mentoring others and sharing knowledge
• Is comfortable working outdoors in all conditions 

A Certificate III in Sports Turf Management and experience with irrigation systems, line marking, turf renovation works, and operating tractors or attachments will be highly regarded.

As Insurance and Return to Work Coordinator, you'll play an important role in creating a safer, healthier workplace while also coordinating Council’s insurance portfolio. With a focus across return to work and injury management, and insurance claims, you'll make a meaningful difference to the lives of our people, support fair and timely claims outcomes, and help protect the interests of our organisation.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Manager - Risk & WHS, you'll play a key role in supporting employee wellbeing, driving positive return to work outcomes, and coordinating Council’s insurance matters. In this role, you will:

• Lead the end-to-end management and administration of workers compensation and income protection claims, ensuring positive outcomes for employees and the organisation.
• Coordinate and facilitate effective return to work and recovery at work programs, supporting employees, leaders and stakeholders throughout the process.
• Administer Council’s insurance portfolio and coordinate insurance claims, enquiries, renewals, reporting and outstanding matters in consultation with relevant stakeholders.
• Provide expert advice and guidance on injury management, workers compensation, return to work and insurance matters to leaders, employees, claimants and stakeholders across the organisation.
• Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, Local Government Workers Compensation Scheme requirements, Performance Standards for Self-Insurers (PSSI), insurance scheme requirements and organisational policies.
• Partner with the Risk & WHS team and relevant stakeholders to analyse claims, incidents and trends, identifying opportunities to reduce risk, improve processes and support positive outcomes.

Who you are
 

You are more than an injury management professional. You are a compassionate problem solver, trusted advisor and strong relationship builder who can balance people-focused return to work support with practical insurance coordination to make a genuine impact.

You bring: 

• Proven experience in injury management, workers compensation claims administration, return to work coordination and insurance claims or portfolio administration.
• Strong knowledge of relevant workers compensation, return to work, work health and safety and insurance requirements, with the ability to provide trusted advice and guidance.
• Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to engage, influence and build effective relationships across all levels of an organisation
• Experience supporting return to work, injury management, claims management, insurance administration or workplace health initiatives that contribute to positive employee, claimant and organisational outcomes.
• The ability to analyse information, manage competing priorities and make informed decisions across both return to work and insurance matters in a complex and dynamic environment.
• A collaborative, proactive and solutions-focused approach, coupled with a genuine commitment to employee wellbeing, workplace safety and fair claims outcomes.
