Our Illegally Dumped Rubbish team plays a critical role in maintaining the cleanliness and presentation of Council land across the city – supporting community safety, environmental outcomes and high‑quality city presentation. We’re looking for someone who brings practical skills, a strong safety focus and a positive, team‑based approach.

About the role

As a valued member of the Civil Infrastructure team, you’ll support Council’s city‑wide illegal dumping and hard rubbish collection activities across roadsides, reserves, streetscapes and other public land.

Your work will include identifying, collecting and removing illegally dumped rubbish and hard waste, operating load‑shifting plant and attachments, and driving medium‑sized trucks in line with licensing requirements and Council procedures. You’ll safely load, transport and dispose of materials, including assisting with the identification and handling of hazardous and non‑hazardous waste in accordance with established processes.

You’ll complete daily vehicle and plant checks, carry out basic cleaning and maintenance, report defects, and escalate hazards, contamination or items requiring specialist attention. The role also involves general labouring and support tasks across City Operations as required.

This role may rotate across City Operations teams to support peak workloads, making flexibility, teamwork and communication key to success.

About you

You take pride in keeping public spaces clean, safe and presentable, and understand the importance of timely and professional responses to illegal dumping across the community. You’re practical, reliable and safety‑focused, and enjoy working as part of a team that delivers visible results.

You bring experience operating plant or vehicles, following procedures, and managing physical, hands‑on work in changing environments. You’re comfortable operating load‑shifting equipment, completing routine checks, and are comfortable working outdoors in a range of environmental conditions.

You’re someone who:

Our Sportsground & Turf Maintenance team plays a critical role in maintaining safe, functional and well‑presented sports fields and reserves across the city. We’re looking for someone who brings strong turf knowledge, a proactive mindset, and a positive contribution to team culture.

About the role

As a Team Member – Sportsground & Turf Maintenance, you’ll deliver proactive and reactive turf and grounds maintenance across sportsgrounds, ovals and reserves.

Your work will include coordinating and delivering mowing, turf care and seasonal changeovers, inspecting playing surfaces for safety and condition, monitoring turf health, and supporting irrigation maintenance. You’ll operate tractors and relevant attachments, assist with line marking and sports setup, and help maintain public spaces to a high standard of presentation.

This role also provides opportunities to scope and plan turf activities, support internal stakeholders with technical advice, and mentor other team members in best practice turf maintenance and changeover procedures. You may rotate across City Operations teams during peak periods, making collaboration and flexibility important.

About you

You’re passionate about turf quality and understand the importance of safe, reliable playing surfaces for community sport.

You’ll ideally have a background in sports turf management or a similar environment, along with the relevant qualifications or experience. Just as importantly, you’re someone who takes ownership of your work, supports others, and contributes positively to team culture.

You’re someone who:

Our verge mowing team plays a vital role in keeping Playford’s streets, reserves and open spaces safe, tidy and welcoming. We’re looking for someone who not only has (or is willing to gain) the right skills, but who will positively contribute to team culture and take ownership of their work.

About the role

As a Verge Mower with City Operations, you’ll support the delivery of Council’s seasonal verge, reserve and open space mowing programs.

Your day-to-day work will include operating front deck mowers and associated equipment, supporting verge mowing rotations, and carrying out routine plant checks and maintenance. You’ll work as part of a supportive team, helping identify hazards, asset damage or areas needing follow up, and ensuring public spaces are presented to a high standard.

This is an active, outdoor role where reliability, safe work practices and teamwork are just as important as technical skills. There may also be opportunities to rotate across City Operations teams when required to support peak workloads or absences.

About you

You enjoy practical, hands-on work and take pride in seeing the results of your efforts out in the community.

Ideally, you’ll bring experience operating mowing plant and equipment, along with a current MR driver’s licence. If you’ve worked in verge mowing, parks maintenance or a similar outdoor role, that’s great – but just as important is your attitude and willingness to learn.
