Land Development Civil Engineer

Full-Time / Fixed Term (2 years)

Classification: GO5 ($90,287 + Superannuation)

The Role: Land Development Civil Engineer

 

We are looking for a Land Development Civil Engineer to join our Engineering Services team in a full-time capacity for 2 years.

In the role you will provide civil engineering assessment and construction supervision to ensure developers deliver well-constructed and fit for purpose infrastructure within new land developments. You will also provide assistance in citywide traffic and transportation issues.

 

What you’ll be doing

  • Deliver technical assessment of proposed land developments in accordance with legislative requirements, relevant standards, guidelines, approved plans and Council’s strategic plans.
  • Ensure the construction of infrastructure within new land division is in accordance with Council Standards, Australian Standards, technical specifications and approved plans.
  • Make decisions and provide informed, practical advice to contractors regarding resolution of site issues.
  • Complete written reports relating to construction, defects, damage and new infrastructure.
  • Build and maintain positive working relationships with developers and contractors through provision of good customer service, and practical decision making.

What you’ll bring to our team

 

It is important to us that you are the right fit to join our team, but just as important, that Playford is the right place for you. The successful applicant will have completed a tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering (or similar) and have at least 2 years practical experience.  

In addition you will have:

  • Demonstrated experience in designing and/or reviewing designs for the construction of civil infrastructure including roads, stormwater, footpath and traffic management measures for large subdivision developments.
  • Demonstrated experience in construction management, involving the verification of construction works carried out by developers/civil contractors for subdivision developments.
  • Knowledge of traffic management and design principles using relevant acts, standards and guidelines.
  • Ability to exercise a high level of interpersonal skills including communication, instruction and negotiation.
