We’re looking for a Senior Urban Planner who wants to be at the centre of that growth, navigating complex applications, influencing city shaping outcomes and applying sound professional judgement where it matters most.

As our Senior Urban Planner, you will be the go-to technical expert for complex and high-profile development applications. You won’t just process applications, you will lead them.

What you’ll get to do:

• Assess and determine complex development applications across a rapidly growing municipality
• Provide clear, defensible advice to the Council Assessment Panel
• Prepare planning evidence and represent Council in ERD Court matters
• Act as the senior escalation point for technical planning matters
• Mentor and guide planners, building capability across the team
• Contribute to continuous improvement and smarter ways of working
• This is a hands-on senior role where your judgement, experience and credibility will be relied upon daily.

What you’ll bring

You will bring the confidence and maturity to navigate competing priorities, sensitive matters and high value developments in a fast-moving environment.

You hold tertiary qualifications in Urban and Regional Planning and are a PIA member (or eligible). You bring demonstrated experience assessing complex development applications, strong statutory planning knowledge and sound professional judgement. You are confident preparing clear reports and legal briefs, advising panels and senior stakeholders, and mentoring others.
