About the Role We are seeking a detail-orientated and motivated Accounts Payable Officer to join our team. Reporting to the Manager Procurement & Accounts Payable, you will play a critical role in ensuring the timely, accurate and compliant processing of accounts payable transactions across Council. Your responsibilities will include: - Processing invoices, credit notes, purchase card transactions and reimbursements in line with policies and payment terms
- Reconciling creditor accounts and preparing relevant reports
- Ensuring compliance with GST and internal control requirements
- Providing effective support to internal and external stakeholders
- Maintain accurate financial and records management documentation
- Assisting with system improvements, testing for upgrades, supporting audit activities

- High level communication skills when liaising with internal and external stakeholders
- Accuracy and attention to detail, particularly with numerical information
- General understanding of records management responsibilities
- Awareness of council functions, roles and operation environments
- Knowledge of basic accounting principles and accounts payable processes
- Understanding procurement procedures, internal controls, GST, PAYGW, and FBT
- High level computer literacy, including Excel, Word, Outlook/Teams, and accounting systems
