About the Role This is a key hands-on position responsible for undertaking weed management activities across the City of Playford, primarily through the safe operation of Council’s Gator weed-spraying equipment. Your responsibilities will include: - Delivering effective weed control using chemical, mechanical and manual methods across verges, gutters, medians, parks and open spaces.
- Operating Gator weed spraying equipment and other machinery safely and in accordance with procedures and safety standards.
- Undertaking minor horticultural work such as whipper snipping, edging, hedging and minor pruning.
- Ensure safe handling, application and storage of chemicals in line with MSDS requirements.
- Working collaboratively across teams to ensure weed spraying aligns with broader city appearance and sustainability goals.
About You You’re a reliable team player who enjoys outdoor work and takes pride in seeing the results of your efforts in the city around you. You’ll have an eye for detail, be proactive with safety, and bring a strong work ethic to the role. You will possess: - Experience in weed management and plant operation (e.g. spraying equipment, whipper snipping, and small plant).
- Knowledge of weed control techniques and chemical safety procedures.
- Strong communication and time management skills.
- A current (unrestricted) MR Driver’s licence.
- Certificate of competency in:
- AHCCHM303 – Prepare and Apply Chemicals
- AHCCHM404 – Transport and Store Chemicals
