We have an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated professional and customer focused Manager to join our Governance team, who provide Civic and Corporate Governance expertise to the organisation. In this role, you will work collaboratively across the organisation to support the achievement of Council’s Strategic Plan. About the Role This is a pivotal role responsible for shaping governance practices and strengthening organisational integrity across Council. As Manager - Governance, you will operate as a trusted advisor in governance related matters, including providing strategic oversight of governance frameworks, legislative compliance and decision-making processes that underpin Council’s effectiveness and community trust. Key responsibilities include: - Provide expert advice on governance, policy, compliance and legislative matters
Lead and develop a multidisciplinary governance team, fostering a high-performance and continuous improvement culture - Oversee Council and Committee governance functions, including agenda management and statutory compliance
- Drive modern governance practices, including digital governance systems and process improvement initiatives
- Manage and enhance the Policy Governance Framework and organisational governance roadmap
- Build strong partnerships across the organisation, supporting informed decision-making and organisational integrity
This position has a regular requirement to attend Council and Committee meetings, therefore after-hours work is a requirement of the position. About You You enjoy leading a team of professionals and partnering with them to successfully plan and deliver a Governance service to an organisation. You will ideally possess: - Demonstrated ability to create an engaged team environment through the effective leadership of planning, coaching, developing and mentoring.
- Demonstrated ability to identify Governance and Policy issues, interpret legislation and formulate policies to ensure compliance.
- Sound understanding of and willingness to maintain political, commercial and personal confidentiality in the workplace.
- Proven ability to influence, partner and communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders, including executives and Elected Members.
- A continuous improvement mindset, with experience modernising systems, processes or frameworks.
- High levels of integrity, judgement and discretion in managing sensitive information.
- You are motivated by purpose and community impact, and bring a contemporary, solutions-focused approach to governance.
