The Role: Development Officer – Building We are looking for a Building Surveyor to join our Building and Compliance team in the full-time ongoing Development Officer – Building role. Providing you have experience in Building Surveying and either hold or are eligible to obtain accreditation as a Building Level 1, 2 or 3, we encourage you to apply. As a progressive, experienced and capable team, we are looking for someone to join and contribute to all of the exciting work our Building Team are achieving. Remuneration classification will be assessed based on the successful applicant meeting the GO4 - GO6 accountabilities aligned to the position description. The successful candidate will be responsible for administering the requirements of the Building Code, Australian Standards and the Planning, Development and Infrastructure Act and Regulations throughout the City of Playford. This includes building inspections, assessments of development applications and compliance investigation matters. What you’ll be doing - Residential and commercial building inspections
- Assessment of both simple and complex developments against the Building Code
- Providing specialist technical advice to both internal and external stakeholders
- Initiation of enforcement action in relation to breaches of the Planning, Development and Infrastructure Act 2016
- Assisting in the development and refinement processed and of system of work
What you’ll bring to our team It is essential the successful applicant will hold or be eligible to obtain Building Level 1, 2 or 3 accreditation and a current Class 1 Driver’s Licence.
In addition you will have: - A working knowledge of building and compliance related activities.
- High level interpersonal, customer service and negotiation skills with diverse stakeholder groups
- Experience undertaking building inspections
- Ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision
- Passion for public service, community safety and compliance in the local community
- Local government experience would be an added bonus but not essential!
