About the role...

 

We have an exciting opportunity for a qualified Painter to join our Asset Operations team.

 

Under supervision of the Manager of Buildings, you will be responsible for performing painting and decorating tasks on Council buildings, assets, and facilities, ensuring they maintain a visually appealing appearance that reflects the vibrancy of a growing city. 

 

Key accountabilities include:

  • Repainting facilities (internal and/or external) based on master schedule;
  • Smooth and prepare surfaces for painting, including sanding and removal of old paint;
  • Patch repair including nail holes, cracks and joints with filler.
  • Colour matching existing paint;
  • Stain, seal and varnish wood surfaces;
  • Undertake removal of graffiti from the interior and exterior of council buildings and facilities as required;
  • Undertake inspections on Council buildings and facilities, providing recommendations on necessary works.

About you...

 

In addition to holding qualifications in Painting and Decorating, you will also need to hold a range of licences and tickets including MR licence (minimum), Elevated Work Platform (EWP) and Forklift.

 

The successful applicant will have:

  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in all facets of painting & decorating and ability to undertake minor repairs associated with these works.
  • Demonstrated ability to read and interpret plans and drawings.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and provide solutions.
  • Well-developed communication skills, written and verbal.
  • Good interpersonal skills including the capacity to establish and maintain effective relationships with work colleagues, consultants and contractors, deal professionally with the public and work effectively across Asset Operations.
