Full Time / Ongoing Salary range ($108,080 - $115,122 + Superannuation)

About the Role In this senior position, you will provide specialist technical advice and leadership in building and compliance activities. You’ll be responsible for supporting complex development assessments, inspections, and enforcement, while contributing to continuous improvement and strong stakeholder engagement. Key responsibilities include: - Providing expert advice on complex building and compliance matters
- Undertaking commercial building inspections and Building Rules assessments
- Supporting enforcement activities and representing Council where required
- Supporting the operation of the Council’s Building Fire Safety Committee
- Mentoring and guiding building surveyors within the team
- Monitoring workflows and contributing to efficient service delivery
- Supporting reporting, policy development, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
About You You are a knowledgeable and experienced Building Surveyor with strong technical capability and a collaborative approach. You’re confident dealing with complex matters and enjoy working in a team-focused, customer-oriented environment. To be successful, you will have: - Accreditation as a Building Surveyor Level 1 or Level 2 (essential)
- Demonstrated experience in building compliance, inspections, and assessment of commercial buildings
- Strong knowledge of relevant legislation including:
- Planning, Development and Infrastructure Act 2016
- National Construction Code and Australian Standards
- Experience in enforcement activities and preparing legal documentation
- Ability to interpret architectural plans and technical specifications
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills
- A current Class C Driver’s Licence
