Shape the future of a growing community. Drive positive change.

At the City of Playford, community is at the heart of everything we do. As one of South Australia's fastest growing regions, we’re building strong city foundations and creating vibrant places where people can thrive.

We’re on the lookout for a passionate Social Planner ready to make a real impact, someone who thrives on connection, collaboration, and delivering meaningful outcomes for our diverse and dynamic community.

What you'll do

As the Social Planner, you’ll be part of the City Plans team, reporting to the Senior Manager and working alongside a collaborative group of Planners specialising in urban policy, transport, stormwater, sport and recreation and open space planning. You’ll also work closely with our Community Engagement & Experience team, ensuring alignment between strategy, infrastructure, and community needs.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead the planning and delivery of community infrastructure projects that improve wellbeing and liveability
  • Develop forward-thinking social strategies and policies based on robust research and community insight
  • Provide expert advice and build strong partnerships across the organisation and with external stakeholders
  • Evaluate programs, guide decision-making, and advocate for services that matter

About you

You’re community-minded, future-focused, and strategic in your approach. You bring a genuine passion for working with people, understanding community needs, and translating that insight into meaningful action.

You’ll be a natural collaborator and confident working across teams and disciplines, engaging with a wide range of stakeholders, and navigating complex challenges with creativity and care. Your communication skills are a standout, whether you're preparing reports, leading discussions, or presenting to Council or external partners.

You bring:

  • Demonstrated experience in social planning or a related discipline
  • Strong research, evaluation, and policy development skills
  • Proven ability to plan and deliver community infrastructure projects
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A commitment to equity, inclusion, and improving quality of life for all

Tertiary qualifications in Social Planning, Social Work, Urban & Regional Planning, or a related discipline are highly regarded, but if you’ve got equivalent experience and the drive to make a difference, we’d also love to hear from you.

Incumbents in this position must be willing to gain and possess a satisfactory National Criminal History Clearance and DCSI Child-Related Clearance.
